Alright, so my NaNo is only fanfiction, but really, it doesn't matter, because I need MUSIIIIIIIIIIIIIIC.

So. Here's the thing. I'm writing Avenger MCU/AU X-Men 616 fanfiction.

This means, I need Tony Stark music (I already have:

- Iron Man 1&2 soundtracks
- Avengers Soundtrack
- Thor soundtrack
- Hulk Soundtrack)

And Jubilee music. The best way to describe Jubilee:

For Length )

Also: She explodes things with her powers. EXPLODES THINGS OKAY?

So, gimme your recommendations! ALL OF THEM! Yay music!

Okay guys. I'm doing NaNo again this year. However, instead of doing anything original - I'm going to be editing during November when I'm not writing - I'm going to be writing fanfiction.

It'll be Marvel fanfiction. I know you're shocked. It'll be a fusion of Movie-verse and Comics-verse.

The premise is thus:

Jubilee meets Tony Stark for the first time at some sort of benefit that her parents are having at their house in Beverly Hills. She's ten; he's almost thirty. They become friends and eventually family. When the Avengers (Movie-verse) happen, they aren't very thrilled to one day find a sixteen year old girl in Tony's apartment. In fact, Widow might break her vow not to kill him.

It will be eventual Steve/Tony (thanks Jubes).

As scenes/things get written on it, it will be posted at [ profile] bkuchiki - where I've been posting all my fanfiction (crit is always welcome if you wanna run over there and read what's posted there).

So. Yeah. Feel free to prod me here/there. The tag for that fanfiction will be NaNo AU.

The new NaNoWriMo site has been launched. I'm starting to play with it, giving me something to do before NaNo starts.

I just wrote my novel synopsis and realized it fits perfectly with the tone of the novel that I'm hoping to get across:

"A regular, plain old farmer, trying to raise four kids without help finds out that she's got help... From several Gods. Even ones she's never heard of. She's not exactly impressed when Their representatives start showing up on her doorstep expecting to be clothed, fed and sheltered from her world. Oh, and then one of those beings decides that the moon is the perfect place for her to build a kingdom - queendom. Whatever."

[personal profile] etcetera_cat I'm sure you recognize the Moon in that.

Now, I'm going to go do responsible stuff. Just wanted to share it because this early in the morning, it amused me.

NaNo Prep

It's that time of year. Next month begins the countdown to NaNo. I still don't know which story I'm doing yet. I haven't really fleshed out the one story, but the others just don't interest me.

However, I was thinking of doing Moon stuff, just because I doubt I'll ever make that publishable and it can be so utterly ridiculous that I don't have to really think about it.

... Yeah, maybe having fun with NaNo this year, instead of using it as a reason to publish is the way to go.

Somewhere in my boxes of books is my "No Plot? No Problem" book, and I should find that and read it.

So, in honor of NaNo, I'm going to be prodding characters. Have a writing meme you want me to do? Post it here/post a link. Have a question you want to ask? Ask away and I'll make a post about it.

Wanna do a mini interview about NaNo? List your questions here and I'll answer.

Basically, anything and everything NaNo? I'm ready for you to toss it my way.

Over on IJ, I might be doing a meme that lasts 30 days. However, it'll be under lock.

For now, I'm going to go see about finishing off my steampunk thing and then... well, we'll go from there.

I'm supposed to be writing bingo prompts, but the last week or so, I just have not had any brain power.

This time of year is what I like to call "Pre-NaNo apathy". Meaning, I cannot be arsed to do anything when it comes to writing.

However, that's going to change on Monday. Because as of Monday there will be seven days until NaNo. But, I won't be working on my NaNo. Nope. I'm going to be working on sketching out the dream sequences that need to be put into KoO.

Then, once that done, I'll work a little at looking at my NaNo. I have other things to look at as well. I have not looked at any of them. Instead, I've been working my way through Neverwinter Nights 2.

Because that's important.

There's also been personal stuff going on, but this is a writing blog.

Back to writing stuff!

I'm going to start on character descripts probably today or tomorrow. That'll be for the Moon-stuff, rather than for DB though.

Keep in mind, I've adopted a policy of not putting up snippets here. So, mostly you'll just get progress reports on how it's going.

(It doesn't help that the kids don't have school on the first or second. First two days of NaNo and we have kids home. ARGH.)

Next year's writing schedule might be revamped, depending on how today goes. (Again, personal things)

So. Is everyone just about ready?

This is for my NaNo project:

Legends state that there are those in the world descended from dragons. In times of great need or great change, all four (Fire, Ice, Shadow, and Light) will come together and the Dragon Harem Protector will appear.

But what happens when one of the Harem is keeping secrets and is actively disliked by the rest of them?

She's the secret head of her clan and someone is systematically trying to wipe them off the map and out of the history books. Jin-Yu suddenly receives a message that the other three Dragon Blooded have been found and she's to join them immediately to be put in the Dragon Harem.

But she can't trust them. They don't even like her. She's got to find her place in the Harem - among people who have been friends for most of their lives - deal with being an omoiyoosha and try to figure out who's trying to destroy her clan... All while not telling anyone a damned thing.

Who said life was hard?

Since I still feel like hell, I'm going to do a quick NaNo meme to make myself feel better. It probably won't work, but I'm okay with that.

Meme! )

And there is more than you ever will need to know about Cat's NaNoing.

Seriously, is it November yet?
cat_rood: (Ice and Fire)
So, since I finished the rewrite o' d00m, yet again, I've been at a loss.

However, lately, I've been doing some world building and scene notes and outlining for NaNo. I was turned on to a beautiful program called Storybook.

It's been really handy for helping me flesh out characters and thinking of just how many scenes I'm going to need for this particular story.

Which is great and all, but I want to write the damned thing. Why isn't it November yet?

So, I've been distracting myself lately. Mainly with the fleshing out. I know how old people are, and their relationships, I even have a huge subplot idea for the romance between two characters.

It may end up being two characters that I hadn't even thought of.

Anyway, this is what I've been doing. Except, today, I'm going to try to put it down and do something completely different. Why? Because if I keep going too much, I'm going to burn out.

I do have some maps to make yet, but the maps I have made made me realize that the other two maps are actually complex and have multi layers that are not so easy to take care of. (As in they need actual layouts and graphing and... yeah. I might print out graph paper and see what shakes loose that way.)

Anyway, this is my prep for NaNo at the end of September. November really needs to hurry up and get here.

(See, if any of my other projects would sit up and go "HI" at me, I'd work on one of them. But do they? Nope.)

Also, it's really freaking cold in here!
cat_rood: (Rules)
Okay... so...

May: Finish the edit on KoO
June: Write something (Possibly Mira, or Ari)
August: Rewrite KoO
September: Research/writing
October: Outline Dragon Voices
November: THE DREADED NANO - Dragon Voices
December: Send out second set of "PLEASE EDIT THIS" of KoO.

... That actually looks doable. Pondering this as I go along.

I'm hoping that nothing too much comes along to screw this up. Like, ya know, LIFE. But I'm going to attempt it.

Up until about three hours ago - I get up early no matter if I have to or not - I was severely undecided about participating in NaNoWriMo.

But, as the fog of waking up cleared, I realised that I had several stories that could be used and needed to be worked on anyway. I'm not in the proper headplace to write just yet, but World Building! That I can do.

So, yes, I'm joining NaNo - possibly for my last year. Next year I plan on being in school. Hopefully anyway.

For now, though, I'm going to go get started on my world building, and see where that takes me.
